LAPD: Woman Attacked In Laundry Room Of E. Hollywood Building

EAST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Police Friday were looking for a suspect who brutally attacked a woman in the laundry room of her East Hollywood apartment complex.

The crime happened around 8 p.m. Thursday in the 1300 block of N. Edgemont Street, near Sunset Boulevard, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Authorities believe the suspect, who may have been a transient, was trying to break into local businesses and cars when they received a 911 call from the victim.

“There was an intruder in the building and I asked what he was doing here and at that moment he attacked me,” the woman said. “A lot of bruising and a lot of scrapes, some bleeding, stuff like that.”

The attacked happened in the complex’s first floor laundry room.

When police arrived on scene, she was unconscious and suffering from wounds to her head.

Authorities said the man also tried to sexually assault the woman.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released.

“I just want to help prevent this from happening to other people,” she said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 20s with a thin build.

“He had a Misfits tattoo on his forearm,” she added.

Anyone with information should contact the LAPD.
