Take a moment to look back and enjoy a montage of Robin Williams' best movie moments over the years from Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, Good Will Hunting, Patch Adams and Dead Poets Society.

The Goldfinch movie: Who should star in the Donna Tartt adaptation?

While fans of Donna Tartt's beloved 1992 novel The Secret History have been waiting well over a decade for the long-stalled movie adaptation to get the green light, there was some good news this week as Warner Bros confirmed that they have acquired the film rights to her Pulitzer winner The Goldfinch.

Spanning two decades, the novel follows Theo Decker, who loses his mother at the age of 13 and is subsequently drawn into the criminal underworld through his possession of a valuable work of art.

If you're yet to read The Goldfinch, you may want to come back once you have as there will be SPOILERS in the text below. Otherwise, read on for Digital Spy's dream cast...

5 less-heralded Robin Williams films

Robin Williams’ long filmography has more than its share of high-profile roles—but IMDb lists 102 total acting credits stretching all the way back to 1977. (That first one? A pair of parts in something called Can I Do It ‘Till I Need Glasses?, which the site describes as “a comedy are comprised [sic] of short sexually suggestive skits.”) Williams’ triumphs (Good Will Hunting) and failures (Popeye) are well-known, but it’s worth digging through some of his less-heralded work to find the occasional gem.

Robin Williams' Movies, From 'Popeye' to 'The Butler,' Were Never Just One Thing

Robin Williams was found dead at his home in Tiburon, California on Monday at the age of 63. The versatile actor began his career on television, but it was in the movies where Williams flourished. He scored four Oscar nominations in his life, including three Best Actor nods. He won Best Supporting Actor for 1997's "Good Will Hunting."

Despite all those plaudits, Williams' career on the big screen had an inauspicious start: He played the title character in 1980's "Popeye," a notorious critical failure for director Robert Altman.

Beating 'Kim Kardashian: Hollywood' Reveals The Sad Truths Of Celebrity Life

My time with Kim Kardashian: Hollywood is drawing to an end, as the game slowly starts to slide down the app chats. When I began, it was the #1 free app on Apple’s iOS, but now it’s #11, reflecting the short attention span of the average app consumer.

But before I never click that animated tile again, I wanted to go through and discuss the surprisingly profound and tragic nature of the game, one that masquerades as a simple dress up and dating sim, but actually speaks to the sad realities of the empty lives of some of the rich and famous. Perhaps even Kim Kardashian herself, considering the game seems to be loosely based on her life and activities.
The structure of the game is that you’re constantly taking new gigs and going on dates to get noticed by the press. Each event you complete nets you cash for new clothes and more fans, and you want to climb your way up from the E-list to the top of the A-list. Here are a few things I discovered along the way.

Lawmakers Consider Expanding Hollywood Tax Credit

SACRAMENTO (AP) – With only a few weeks left in the legislative session, lawmakers are negotiating the extension and expansion of a Hollywood tax credit designed to keep film and television production in California.

Assemblymen Raul Bocanegra and Mike Gatto, both Democrats from Los Angeles, have proposed AB1839, which would extend the tax credit by five years and expand it to cover big-budget productions costing more than $75 million, among other changes. The current program provides up to $100 million a year in film tax credits and will expire in July 2017 if not renewed.

Is Hollywood's summer slump finally coming to an end?

Godzilla couldn't do it. Spidey couldn't do it. Tom Cruise couldn't do it. In the end, history may show that it took the combined forces of a gun-toting space raccoon, a talking tree and four crime-fighting turtles to finally break Hollywood's Great Summer Slump of 2014.

Since early May, the box office news has been almost unremittingly grim. While the film business entered the vitally important summer movie season running 9% ahead of 2013 thanks to hits like "The Lego Movie" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," just when Hollywood should have been kicking into a higher gear, the industry seemed to blow a gasket.

An Audacious Studio Rattles Hollywood

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Christopher J. McFarland and Riza Shahriz Abdul Aziz, co-owners of Red Granite Pictures, which produced “The Wolf of Wall Street,” are stalking someone bigger than that film’s hero, the stock hustler Jordan Belfort.

To wit, George Washington.

“Very visceral, very gritty,” promised Mr. McFarland, who is known as Joey, growing visibly excited. He had popped from his padded chair and was prowling a loungelike meeting room in Red Granite’s offices above the Sunset Strip.

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem face 'fury' of Hollywood following 'genocide' letter condemning Israel

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are reportedly facing a serious backlash from top Hollywood executives following their support for Gaza, which saw the couple sign an open letter condemning the actions of Israel as tantamount to "genocide".

The couple were among 100 film professionals to sign the open Spanish letter calling on the European Union to end Israel’s military operation in Gaza, along with director Pedro Almodovar in July.

But their actions have sparked anger in top Hollywood executives, which has reportedly called their careers in to question. One top exec told the Hollywood Reporter that he was "furious at Javier and Penelope" and queried whether he would want to work with the couple again.

Academic’s research proves the value of gossip in society

Academic’s research proves the value of gossip in society
Rumour, hearsay, tittle-tattle, scuttlebutt, scandal, dirt-whatever the term-gossip is usually considered a naughty indulgence, but what if it actually contributes to political and social processes?

University of Auckland academic Associate Professor Jennifer Frost has co-edited a book “When Private Talk Goes Public: Gossip in American History” that details the history of gossip, why gossip matters and how it can actually be useful in society.

Concert review: Bringing Dylan to the Tron

"I'm in the wrong town, I should be in Hollywood," growls Bob Dylan in Things Have Changed, the opening song of his two-hour show in Hamilton on Saturday night.

Indeed, the city's Claudelands Arena may seem an unusual choice for the only North Island concerts on the folk-rock legend's latest tour. But bringing the Don to the Tron turns out to be a winner for the fans who pack the 6000-seat venue.

Dylan and his crack five-piece band delve into his great songbook and the rich history of American music to deliver a focused and powerful set, which has a greater intimacy than his last visit to Auckland's larger Vector Arena in 2011.

Jackie O walks out on Kyle Sandilands after on-air spat

Cracks appear to be emerging in the breakfast show pairing of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson, after Henderson apparently walked out on Sandilands during this morning’s broadcast.

The juvenile spat between the two erupted after Henderson, known to KIIS 1065 listeners as Jackie O, accused Sandilands of taking too many sick days.

"If you vomited in the car I don’t think you’d come to work either," protested Sandilands, before asking Henderson if she had "got the shits".

Bringing a bit of comedy to the House

Stephen Colbert still convincing members of Congress to go toe-to-toe

It would be a tough sell in any office: Hey, boss, between that very important meeting and Monday's very important vote, would you mind getting roasted on a mock news show?

But that's pretty much what happens when a press secretary on Capitol Hill has to persuade his boss to appear on "Better Know a District," the popular recurring segment on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report."

Seinfeld sees comedy as 'deadly serious' craft

Jerry Seinfeld doesn't do angst. His comedy may be born of the alienation that many - maybe even all - comedians feel. But in conversation, the 60-year-old comedian comes across as more craftsperson than crazy man. He approaches joke-telling with the care and thoughtful precision of a jokesmith, in the truest sense of the word: a gimlet-eyed professional calibrating and tuning each bit until it hums.

In the 16 years since his Emmy-winning sitcom went off the air, Seinfeld hasn't rested on his laurels. He's returned to his first love - stand-up - regularly working on his act in New York comedy clubs, and then taking it on the road, as with this current national tour, which runs through mid-October. He finally settled down, marrying and fathering three children. He co-wrote and starred in an animated film (2007's Bee Movie, in which he played a litigious honeybee). And he produced The Marriage Ref, a short-lived mashup of game show and reality television.

EMMYS: Netflix And ‘Shameless’ Bring Needed Drama To Comedy Acting Races

With precious few exceptions, the nominees in the Emmy comedy categories for lead acting prove that the more things change, the more they stay the same. There’s been remarkable stability in the male lead category the past three years, with four of the six nominees — Don Cheadle, Louis C.K., Matt LeBlanc and Jim Parsons — returning each year (and Parsons taking the prize three times in the past four years). It pays to be a member of the club, however, as the other two nominees — William H. Macy and Ricky Gervais — are well known to voters as former Emmy winners. In the lead actress category, Julia Louis-Dreyfus has dominated the past two years for her turn in HBO’s Veep. Her competition includes the women who won the category the previous two years (Melissa McCarthy and Edie Falco).
