If you're anything like me, a trip to the movies with two kids can turn out to be a pricey exercise.
With that in mind, and having a movie experience at home is a quick and easy filler for a rainy day.
By experience I don't mean stick a film on and go do something else while they watch it, I mean truly bring the joy of the movies home.

I give my kids four coins each (at their ages the denomination doesn't matter) and kick them outside while I set up.
Then, in they come. That will be two coins each for the movie, which they happily hand over to the dad-shaped usher.
On the table there is a selection of bowls with snacks like popcorn, a couple of lollies, ice-cream, juice, whatever. These are one coin each so the kids have to choose which they want, and dad gets what's left.
Into the lounge where the old kids foam chairs have been arranged in front of the TV. Lights off, and movie on.
Pick a movie that you don't mind seeing too and watch with the kids.
If you want to make it truly like the movies you can also play with your phone and kick their chairs occasionally.
Really, really simple but the kids love the thought of it and it makes it much more of an event than just sticking a movie on.
