Hollywood, CA -
A power outage affected more than 2,275 utility customers in the Hollywood area this morning, authorities said.
The problem was reported about 12:25 a.m. in locations that included Melrose and Fairfax Avenues, said Gale Harris of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
The outage was caused by "equipment failure" involving conductors on top of power lines, Harris said.
DWP crews were working to repair the equipment and restore power, Harris said. There was no estimate on what time power would be turned on.
The 2,275 figure represents residential customers as well as industrial customers, Harris said.

Close to 2300 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers were left without electricity Sunday evening after Mylar balloons knocked areas of Hollywood and Fairfax right off the grid.
Crews worked thru the night and into Monday morning trying to restore power where the transformers exploded in Hollywood. One near Santa Monica and Wilcox, the other at Santa Monica and Orange where traffic was detoured, causing a Monday morning traffic mess for commuters.
Meanwhile several DWP customers took to Twitter to ask @LADWP who's going to pay for those spoiled groceries?
DWP does have a claims form online and if approved you could be reimbursed for any losses suffered due to the outage.
