Barnes & Noble – Round Rock
The bookstore hosts its DC Comics Spectacular July 23-27, with giveaways and activities. Local artist Scott Sutton will provide a superhero drawing demonstration at 11 a.m. July 26 and Austin American-Statesman editor/writer Joe Gross will lead a “Talking Pop Culture” discussion at 5 p.m. that day. The event is free and open to the public.


Author Donna Scarbrough Josey, author of “Georgetown, Texas (Then and Now Series),” will sign copies of her book at 2 p.m. July 26. The event is free and open to the public.

The bookstore will host “Frozen Friday” on Aug. 1, with crafts and activities with Olaf from the movie “Frozen.” Activities begin at 5 p.m.

Old Settlers Park

The 2014 OFY Hill Country Round Up Basketball National Championships take place July 26-27 at the Sports Center. Cost is $350 per team (three-game guarantee). Divisions for boys and girls will include grades 3-8, Division II (9-10 grades) and Division I (grades 10-12).

MythBusters for Tweens

The Round Rock Public Library will host the science-oriented program for ages 8-12 at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 24. The event is free but limited to 20 participants.

Staci Gray

Musician Staci Gray will perform children’s music July 25 at the Round Rock Public Library. A show for ages 1 and up will begin at 9:30 a.m.; a show for ages 2 and up begins at 10:30 a.m.

Summer Film Series

The Round Rock Public Library Summer Film Series continues with a time travel cartoon adventure at 2:30 p.m. July 25. The event is free and open to the public. Snacks, blankets and pillows are allowed.

Teddy Bear Clinic and Storytime

The Round Rock Public Library presents a special Storytime event at 11 a.m. July 26, with a Baylor Scott & White Healthcare professional on-hand, and featuring a teddy bear clinic. Children are invited to bring toys to the clinic for a well-check.

The event is free and open to the public.

Night Rider bike ride

The City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department hosts the 2nd Annual Night Rider Family Bike Ride at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 26.

The event is a non-competitive bicycle ride and nighttime party, beginning at Centennial Plaza at 301 W. Bagdad. Participants may choose from a 4.6- or 8-mile ride. A party will take place at the halfway point.

Cost ranges from $10-$15.

Auditions for ‘Rex’s Exes’

Sam Bass Community Theatre will host auditions for “Rex’s Exes” from 7-9 p.m. July 28-29.

Several roles will be cast, including males and females ages 40 and up.

Auditions are open and consist of cold readings from scripts.

‘Jungalbook’ at Sam Bass

“Jungalbook” by Edward Mast opens July 25 at Sam Bass Community Theatre.

Based on the stories by Rudyard Kipling, “Jungalbook” places the jungle of India on a children’s playground. Dialogue and action refer to the jungle but the play draws color and style from a child’s world.

The play runs July 25 to Aug. 16, with 8 p.m. show times each Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. each Sunday. Tickets range from $15-$18.

Round Rock Express

The Round Rock Express return from an eight-game road trip to take on Houston Astros affiliate Oklahoma City July 29 to Aug. 1 at Dell Diamond.

There will be a fireworks show at Dell Diamond after Friday’s game.

The Express takes on Memphis Aug. 2-5 at Dell Diamond.
