This week's Shippensburg Community Fair entertainment schedule


SHIPPENSBURG - There will be plenty of entertainment on stage during the 57th annual Shippensburg Community Fair, which will be held July 21 to 26 at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds.

The fair will open in traditional fashion with the Shippensburg Band performing at the community vespers service at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 20. Admission is free.

The Little Miss pageant will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, July 21. It will be followed by the fair queen contest at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

On Tuesday, July 22, the Chris Ruble Band will perform at 7:30 p.m.

According to his website, Ruble started singing with InSpirit, a traveling gospel ensemble, when he was 4 years old.

Ruble and his five-piece band perform a variety of music, including country, contemporary Christian and country gospel. The website states he writes and publishes his own music, and is currently promoting his new album, which includes songs like “Parking” and “Sweet Tea.”

Admission is free.

The Alex Hilton Band will be on stage at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23.

According to its website, the Hilton Band is a country music group from Virginia that performs “a mix of upbeat country rocking music and soft country ballads.”

Members of the group include Chad Davis on lead guitar; Chambersburg native Ryan Kane on bass; Jason Brookens, of Chambersburg, on drums; and Alex Hilton, vocals and rhythm.

Admission is free.

Entertainment Thursday, July 24, will be provided by Rick K. & The Allnighters, a rock and roll band, at 7:30 p.m.

According to the band’s website, the concert will include music from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, as well as classic top 40 songs and pop rock of the 1980s and 1990s.

Members of the group include Steve Moore on drums, Paul Doege on bass guitar/vocals and Steve Shelene on lead guitar/vocals. The horn section includes section leader Bob Menear on trumpet, Jeremiah Bennett on alto sax and Chuck White on tenor sax.

Admission is $5 (children age 6 and under are free).

On Friday, July 25, Karaoke by Phantom Shadow will be featured at 7 p.m. Registration will begin at 6 p.m.

Admission is free.

Smokin’ Gunnz will present a southern rock tribute concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to its website, the band has been performing for nearly 15 years, “recreat(ing) the sound of some of Southern Rock’s most respected artists.”

Members of the band include Robert Morris, drums and lead vocals; Rick Marko, bass and vocals; and Chris Della Porta and Mike Brady, lead/rhythm guitar and vocals.
