Top 5 Best New TV Shows Airing on Broadcast Television This Fall

As they do every fall, the broadcast networks will be unveiling a slew of new pilots for them to pour down your throat like cheap whiskey. While some will undoubtedly be entertaining, the vast majority will be so awful that you'll feel the need to detox afterward. To help you stick with only top shelf programming, here are the 5 best new shows airing this fall on broadcast TV.

5) Marry Me, NBC

Yes, the trailer may not look the strongest, but you have to trust the ingredients here. Ken Marino, he of "Wet Hot American Summer" and "Wanderlust" fame, is great at playing supporting actors, and I'm excited to see him on television again after "Party Down" criminally ended after only two seasons. Creator David Caspe was also responsible for the very entertaining "Happy Endings," so regardless of the weak 2.5 minutes you see above, "Marry Me" is a show you should be on the lookout for.

4) A to Z, NBC

Full disclosure: I need something to fill my "How I Met Your Mother" void. Cristin Milioti knocked her "HIMYM" role out of the park in its final season, and on "Mad Men," SPOILERS Ben Feldman was one of my favorite characters before he went all van Gogh on his nipple. "A to Z" looks to track the entirety of a relationship, which in itself is pretty "HIMYM"-esque. Definitely worth a shot.

3) How to Get Away with Murder, ABC

"How to Get Away with Murder" is another baby from Shonda Rhimes, ABC's secret weapon and seemingly just about the only one at the network capable of producing television that people enjoy watching. With "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal" on her resume, Rhimes has a track record of providing viewers with compelling content that they come back for week after week. "How to Get Away with Murder" should be no different. With Oscar-nominated Viola Davis as its lead and a young supporting cast, "Murder" seems poised to succeed even before the first episode.

2) Mulaney, FOX

Okay. Yes. Is "Mulaney" very similar to "Seinfeld"? Maybe. You have the comedian. The good friend. The female friend. The wacky friend. OKAY, maybe it's exactly "Seinfeld." But listen, if you're not familiar with John Mulaney, you have to stop what you're doing (unless, you know, you're performing surgery) and fire up YouTube. He's by far one of the funniest comedians out there right now, and it seems like everyone who has seen the final product or read the script has rave reviews. I trust it, and therefore so should you.

1) The Last Man on Earth, FOX

The only negative about "The Last Man on Earth" is that we have to wait until midseason to see what it will look like. First of all, that trailer is a work of art. It has almost no dialogue, and it's still captivating. I have so many questions that I can't wait to get answered. What happened to everyone? Why is Will Forte the only human who was spared? Will the creators really let one person star in a show alone? I repeat, WILL THE CREATORS REALLY LET ONE PERSON STAR IN A SHOW ALONE?
