Police are calling the "isolated incident" a shooting and did not say whether it was being investigated as a murder-suicide.
There is no information on whether a weapon was recovered at the scene. Authorities were attempting to notify relatives of the deceased about their deaths. Their identities were unknown Saturday afternoon.
Portions of Wilson Street and North 25th Avenue were cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape while investigators gathered evidence at the scene Saturday.
A black curtained barrier covered a portion of the front yard while a medical examiner's van parked nearby.
Pedro Peña, a neighbor who lives down the street, said he was in bed waking up when he heard the pre-dawn gunfire.
"I was between wake-up and sleeping," he said. "About three shots and I say to myself, 'let's go wait for the ambulance now.'"
As Peña glanced toward the lawn where the bodies remained, he said to himself: "May God have them in his glory.''
Another resident who lived down the block walked over to the scene to learn more about why police were there. I. Roman said she was worried about crime in her neighborhood.
"It could be anybody you know you said 'hi' to," she said. "The next thing you know, they're dead. It's sad."
Another woman described how a neighbor woke her up to tell her there were two bodies on the ground down the street. A longtime neighbor described how she heard the gunfire, but her husband waved if off, believing it was thunder.
She soon found out he was wrong when police arrived.
