Celebrities all across the country are working to beat the heat and a vicious disease. Justin Timberlake, Adam Levine and more are participating in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness of ALS.
The Ice Bucket Challenge is the latest trend to hit Hollywood. Our favorite celebrities are taking on the challenge to help raise awareness for ALS, widely known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. By posting videos and photos of themselves accepting the challenge, Ansel Elgort, 20, Adam Levine, 35, and more celebs are making this trend go viral across the internet and helping make an even bigger contribution to a good cause. ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is progressive neurodegenerative disease that impacts nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Eventually, the disease makes it difficult for sufferers to walk, speak and talk. The challenge that has gone viral was originally the idea of Massachusetts resident Pete Frates, 29, a former college athlete who has been living with the disease since 2012.Dozens of celebs have decided to take the challenge to help strike out ALS and have nominated their friends to try the icy dare. Shameless star Emmy Rossum, 27, posted her video on Instagram, while Today Show host Hoda Kotb, 50, shared a picture of her getting iced on Aug. 12. President Barack Obama, 53, was nominated by Ethel Kennedy, 86, for the challenge, but opted to donate money instead.

1. Justin Timberlake
After being nominated by Boston Marathon bombing survivors, Patrick Downes and Jessica Kensky, the 33-year-old singer accepted the challenge and poured a bucket of icy water over his head along with The Tennessee Kids. Justin decided to nominate late night host Jimmy Fallon, Steve Higgins and The Roots!

Jimmy, Steve and The Roots took on the challenge and performed it on the Aug. 13 episode, alongside actor Rob Riggle, 45, and Horatio Sanz, 44. The 39-year-old host of The Tonight Show also decided to donate to ALS awareness as well. Jimmy nominated the New York Jets afterwards.
3. Ansel Elgort
The Fault In Our Stars hunk was nominated by friend, Pierce Fulton. Ansel took the challenge shirtless and we watched him throw the bucket over his head, which was filled with an entire bag of ice! After completing the challenge, Ansel yelled “Oh my god!” and ran to get a towel. He nominated John Green, 36, Nat Wolff , 19, and Dylan O’Brien, 22.
4. Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Carson Daly
Members of The Voice team banded together for the Ice Bucket Challenge. Carson, 41, and Blake, 38, doused each other with a bucket of icy water after being nominated by members of the Today Show. Carson nominated Nick Lachey, Kevin Richardson and Joey Fatone in return. Blake went for Gwen Stefani, 44, Pharrell Williams, 41, and, of course, Adam. Instead of a bucket, Blake and Carson opted to use a cooler to shower Adam with ice!
5. Antonio Sabato Jr.
