New comedy club in English launches in Luxembourg

(CS) The International Comedians comedy club is coming to the Grand Duchy on September 13, with another show already scheduled for November, bringing English-speaking comedy to Luxembourg City, with 2x2 tickets up for grabs for wort.lu/en readers.

Co-founded by Canadian comedian Joe Egan, International Comedians hosts shows around Europe, including Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden. Adding Luxembourg as a destination for the touring comedians just made sense, said Egan. “We are really excited to start the club.”

Based in Sweden, Egan in 2012 helped organise a few comedy shows at Scott's Pub and Le Coral in Rue de Strasbourg, where the comedy club will be hosted in September. This year, with the help of Mirco Rubel from expat community group InterNations, Egan returns to Luxembourg, where he says there is a good market for English-speaking comedians.

The line-up on September 13 includes Egan himself who will also be MC for the night, as well as Zeid Andersson from Sweden, Manu Moreau from Belgium and US comedian Jason Waddell.

They bring a mix of different types of comedy and material. Andersson, singer and comedian, has performed around the world, including New York, L.A. and Hong Kong, as well as performing for Swedish troops in Lebanon and Bosnia.

Waddell meanwhile is a relative newcomer and experimental comic, while Moreau was recently awarded the Belgian New Act of the Year prize for his fast-paced one-liners. Expat comedian Egan meanwhile entertains with his experiences of life in Europe, sure to strike a chord with audiences in Luxembourg.

Advance tickets are 15 euros and available for purchase from Le Coral in 15 Rue de Strasbourg. Tickets on the door are 20 euros, with a discount available for groups of four (70 euros).

Alternatively, you can try to win a pair of tickets courtesy of International Comedians. We have two pairs available in total. Simply send an email with the subject line “International Comedian” to wort-en@wort.lu, giving your name and a contact telephone number.

The competition closes on September 10 at noon.

And while you're at it, why not mark your calendars for the second show on November 15.
