Sarah Michelle Gellar pays tribute to Robin Williams

Sarah Michelle Gellar played Robin Williams' daughter in the TV series, The Crazy Ones. This morning the 37-year-old actress tweeted a picture montage, but didn't add a caption. But now, she has released a statement about her former co-star.

She said: "My life is a better place because I knew Robin Williams.

"To my children he was Uncle Robin, to everyone he worked with, he was the best boss anyone had ever known, and to me he was not just an inspiration but he was the Father I had always dreamed of having.
"There are not enough adjectives to describe the light he was, to anyone that ever had the pleasure to meet him.

"I will miss him everyday, but I know the memory of him will live on. And to his family, I thank them for letting us know him and seeing the joy they brought him. Us crazy ones love you."

She then finished with a quote, "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

Sarah and Robin starred in The Crazy Ones for one season, before it was cancelled in May.

The news of Robin Williams' death has affected not just his family, his friends, his co-stars or the long list of celebrity fans - it's affected everyone who has grown up watching his movies, those of us who laughed at his jokes and appreciated his brilliant work.

The 63-year-old actor was known for his roles in Mrs Doubtfire, Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poet's Society, not to mention the movie he won an Oscar for back in 1998, Good Will Hunting.

In a statement, Robin's wife, Susan Schneider, said she was "utterly heartbroken".

"On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."

His publicist said he had been "battling severe depression". In the past Robin had talked, and joked, about his struggles with drugs and alcohol.

It was recently reported that Robin Williams returned to a rehabilitation centre to "fine-tune" his sobriety.
"At this time, the Sheriff's Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made," police said in a statement.

President Barack Obama was one of many offering condolences to his family when he said: "Williams arrived in our lives as an alien - but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit.

"He made us laugh. He made us cry. He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it most - from our troops stationed abroad to the marginalised on our own streets."

Robin's Mrs Doubtfire co-star Sally Field said in a statement: "I feel stunned and so sad about Robin. I'm sad for the world of comedy. And so very sad for his family. And I'm sad for Robin. He always lit up when he was able to make people laugh, and he made them laugh his whole life long.... tirelessly. He was one of a kind. There will not be another. Please God, let him now rest in peace."

Mara Wilson, who played his daughter in Mrs Doubtfire, tweeted: "Very sad, very upset, very glad I did not have to hear about this though Twitter. Probably going to be taking some time off it for a while."

Robin Williams' The Crazy Ones co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar tweeted this picture, but with no caption.
Ben Stiller tweeted: "A tweet cannot begin to describe the hugeness of Robin Williams heart and soul and talent. This is so sad. #RobinWilliams. I met him when I was 13 and a huge fan and he was so kind and I watched him be kind to every fan i ever saw him with...And with other actors he was so generous and brilliant. He made everyone feel special and equal around him even though he was the genius...His heart was so big and even if you didn't know him, what he gave everyone was that same spirit in his work, so we all felt it…His impact on the world was so positive. He did so much good for people. He made me and so many people laugh so hard for a very long time. And because they don't really tweet, this message represents all the Stillers (Jerry, Anne and Amy) who Robin was a great friend to. Xxxxx"

Lindsay Lohan: "Mr. Williams visited me the first day of filming The Parent Trap. I will never forget his kindness. What an enormous loss. My condolences."

Anna Kendrick: "O Captain! My Captain! Rise up and hear the bells. Rise up, for you the flag is flung, for you the bugle trills."
