Liverpool FC transfer gossip: Lavezzi linked again; Reds aid Hummel's Manchester move; Lazio midfielder considered

With Luis Suarez now just a £75million-shaped hole up front Brendan Rodgers is in the market for a high class replacement.

Numerous names have been linked with filling the Uruguayan's hefty boots, the latest being PSG's Ezequiel Lavezzi .

Italian newspaper Tuttosport report that the Reds are firmly in the market for him with the French champions in need of one or two sales after a summer of spending.

But they won't have things entirely their own way with AC Milan and Juventus also monitoring the versatile forward.
Indeed, indications are the Argentine would prefer a move to Turin although it is possible the Reds, flush with Suarez cash, could outbid the Bianconeri.

German World Cup star Mats Hummels could be set for a move to Manchester Utd with the help of Liverpool, claims the Daily Mail .

Their attempt to sign Borussia Dortmund centre-half Hummels was back on late Thursday evening with the two clubs near to agreement on a £20million switch.

Louis van Gaal’s chances have been massively boosted as the Bundesliga side opened talks with Liverpool about borrowing their young Portuguese defender Tiago Ilori.

The 21-year-old would be loaned to Dortmund for the season as Hummels’ replacement - a move that the Reds' manager Brendan Rodgers would allow.

Ilori was signed from Sporting Lisbon a year ago and loaned out to Spanish side Granada for experience in January. He made only nine starts for them, and is still just short of being a first-team starter.

The Reds may also be in for Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, according to Gazzetta dello Sport .

The 21-year-old Nigerian international would command a fee in the region of £8million.

Bitter rivals Everton are also keen but the Reds' Champions League participation could see them win the race.
