Internet comedy is no longer just something kids make on their phones. Established comics are increasingly relishing the freedom and the direct connection of bypassing traditional TV and making online shows with a strong creative wallop.
From autumn, a YouTube-backed series hosted by comedian and beatboxer Beardyman will feature guest appearances by Jack Black, Tim Minchin and other huge-name stars. Brendon Burns, the Australian controversy magnet and comedians’ comedian, is recording a web series at the Edinburgh Fringe: a mix of stand-up, sketches and celebrity guests. Chelsea Handler, a high-profile US comic and chat-show host, has left the E! network
