Andy Samberg's 10 best comedy moments

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is now on SBS screens so we're celebrating by showing you the best moments of Andy Samberg's already amazing career. Enjoy!

The amazing Brooklyn Nine-Nine has hit SBS and you really shouldn’t need any incentive to want to watch this critically acclaimed, hilarious show with an all-star cast. Even so, to get you in the mood, we thought we’d take a look at the best comedy moments of the star of the show, Andy Samberg and there’s a whole load of comedy in these moments you can trust us on that, or hey, just keep reading and see for yourself.

Dear Sister

Perhaps one of the first scenes that really put Andy Samberg on the map, this was one of the two viral videos that not only really launched Andy’s career but also the SNL digital short itself. Even in it’s out of context state ‘Dear Sister’ is amazingly hilarious, perhaps even more so but those of you with longer memories or those obsessed with bad Drama series will remember that this scene itself was a parody of the completely over the top OC shooting scene that aired not to long before it and from the original scene you can see that the comedy ‘death’ performances are not really an exaggeration of the original at all.

Lazy Sunday

The other video that launched Andy Samberg is without a doubt Lazy Sunday. Another SNL digital short this one is just straight up hilarious for its completely straight performance of a rap song about going to see Narnia. The combination of stupid topic with completely serious delivery is probably the reason that Lonely Island is as popular as it has become.

I’m on a Boat

Everyone knows this one. While Lonely Island had hits before this one, “I’m on a Boat” was an actual phenomenon. Not only was it funny and involving the crazy popular at the time T-Pain, who for some reason was appearing in a lot of comedy videos back then, but it was also catchy as hell. In fact it’s probably stuck in your head right now right? You can thank us for that.

Mark Wahlberg talks to Animals

So it turns out Andy Samberg is not only funny as himself, but he’s a pretty solid impressionist. The best part is the sketch isn’t particularly clever, it’s really just exactly what it claims to be Mark Wahlberg talking to animals but Andy Samberg makes it work and work really well by freaking nailing it.

Get in the Cage

And he keeps nailing it. To the point where now it’s kind of scary. If you close your eyes it’s almost impossible to tell which one is the real Nick Cage talking.

Like a Boss

Of all the Lonely Island videos this one is probably our favourite, it’s the classic blend of that Lonely Island serious delivery with a level of absurdity that starts off weird and gets to criminal insanity by the end. It’s just one of those songs that gets you laughing and keeps it going until it ends.

Taco Town

Okay so maybe Tacos are the real star here but Andy Samberg is in it and it’s hilarious so shut up. It’s hard to find 10 sketches that are legally available in Australia alright?

Kissing Family

Watch this because you get to see Andy Samberg struggle to keep a straight face as people keep spitting stuff on him. He does an admirable job.

Captain Jack Sparrow

At the height of their fame Lonely Island managed to lock down a performance with Michael ‘Freaking’ Bolton. They did not waste this opportunity.
