Coppell arts and entertainment

Coppell is tight-knit community with a small town feel. And there are plenty of options for families and residents to have fun. Coppell embraces the small-town feel from top to bottom and it shows.

The most recent project is Old Town Coppell, an area that used to be the old downtown of Coppell. It’s a project the city hopes to bring people together in a central area.

“It’s where Coppell used to sit a long time ago and was classified as a historic overlay district in 1996,” Coppell spokesperson Sharon Logan said. “We’ve been working on that project since then, and it came to fruition from plans, land and funds.

“It has jumped. You’ve got residents out there, homes, restaurants, businesses, the town square, a playground – it’s blending very nicely. It’s an exciting part of town.”

The Coppell Farmer’s market is also a big draw. Families are encouraged to walk around and browse the vendors, while children can play in the park fountain.

“The Coppell Farmer’s Market is the best one in Texas,” said Eric Katzenberger, who owns Greens and Goodies and provides vegetables to establishments in North Texas. “Everyone is fun, and there’s lots of new faces, and that’s really exciting.”

There are also new restaurants and shops opening around it, like Simmer, a new restaurant that’s trying to bring an uptown feel without Coppell residents needing to drive to Dallas.

In addition, Theater Coppell has been around since the 1980s and is a place for the community to enjoy affordable entertainment.

This year, the theater plans to do two musicals, “Annie” and “Catch Me if You Can.”
